The story of Merrell begins in 1981 in the mountains of Utah where Randy Merrell, a cowboy boot craftsman, decides to diversify by launching into the production of hiking shoes. In the same year, Clark Matis and John Schweizer, from the ski clothing company Rossignol and passionate about outdoor sports, decide to involve Randy Merrell in their project: thus the company “Merrell Boots Company” is born. Over the years, the Merrell footwear brand diversifies its range of products. In addition to hiking shoes, Merrel launches a line of shoes for trail running, water sports and other outdoor activities. Merrell breaks down barriers and considers the outdoors as a day in the open air full of discoveries and freedom: living outdoors gives us adventure and intense joy, but also a greater awareness of ourselves. Merrell is a leader in design, innovation and creation of products that reflect a modern vision of the outdoors. As the needs of outdoor enthusiasts have changed, so has Merrell's approach: its modern vision of the outdoors now encompasses all types of activities and environments.
